Taijiquan (T’ai Chi Ch’uan) is an ancient Internal Chinese Martial Art.  As well as a neigong style of fighting, taijiquan is a meditative practice that teaches body based stress  resilience.  An emphasis on breath control (qígōng) and mental focus helps teach self-regulation of mind/body response and can help maintain a sense of calm, body awareness and focus on the present.

While easy to learn, it takes a lifetime to master.

While students learn to perform the taiji form, our school's focus is on helping students develop a firm understanding of fundamentals and principles that will allow them to create a meaningful practice outside the classroom.  We encourage them to learn the form themselves rather than follow a leader and become dependent on a class to practice.  The curriculum builds a student from the ground up; starting with the feet and legs (stance work), moving through properly aligned joints and spine, expressing through their arms and fingers with applications of form.  A meaningful practice can be developed using the solo form alone, or students can develop further though an integrated system of empty hand Form, two person experiences and weapons work for a comprehensive knowledge of the vast art of Taijiquan.

Classes focus on a traditional taiji long form with offerings rounded out by two other hand forms, several weapons forms, paired forms, interactive taiji (push hands) and Chinese calligraphy (shūfǎ).

Táijì classes are offered on Mon, Tues, Weds weeknights, Thurs and Sat mornings and a practice session on Saturday mornings. Private lessons and corporate events are available upon request.
